Olympic hurdler Lolo Jones drops worst accidental foot-in-mouth tweet ever

Lolo Jones is an Olympic hurdler and an athlete who takes any challenge very seriously. It was exactly this competitive nature that led to what has to be the worst accidental foot-in-mouth tweet in history.

Jones received a tweet from former Rutgers football player Eric LeGrand in which he challenged her jokingly to a race. Lolo responded in kind with the following:

“Get Checked for a concussion. Clearly, u’ve been hit in the head… Cos u arnt beating a track athlete.”

No problem right? Well unfortunately for Jones she was unaware that LeGrand was injured while in college, suffering a serious spinal cord injury during a kickoff for Rutgers. Doctors determined he had fractured his C3 and C4 vertebrae. His positive energy and spirit since the horrible incident has been an inspiration to many fans. These same fans went after Lolo with a barrage of angry replies. Poor Lolo had to dig out of the ill-informed response.

LeGrand’s positive spirit shone through as he realized it was an obvious mistake. He replied with the following:

LeGrand has penned a book about his experiences called, “Believe: My Faith and the Tackle That Changed My Life.” You can pick up a copy here – I’m guessing someone probably mailed poor Lolo one.
