NBA News: Dorell Wright of the Miami Heat arrested for DUI
Miami Police arrested Miami Heat forward Dorell Wright for driving under the influence as well as driving on a suspended license after cops witnessed the 24-year old driving his 2005 Bentley erratically at about 3:37 AM.
According to the police report, obtained by TMZ, cops were talking with Wright when they noticed “red and watery eyes, odor of an alcoholic beverage on his breath, and low and slurred speech.” Wright wasn’t able to provide current proof of insurance and police also discovered he was driving on a suspended license.
Dorell Wright was booked for DUI and driving on a suspended license, all just a few hours after playing 22 minutes against the Los Angeles Clippers in a Miami Heat victory Wednesday. Wright only scored one point in the contest, so apparently he can’t drive too well on the court either.
UPDATE – NBCMiami.com is reporting more details from Wright’s arrest saying that the baller “was going 52 mph in a 35 mph zone, and nearly struck a taxi after he changed lanes without signaling.” Wright also reportedly had difficulty putting his Bentley in park after he had been stopped by police. For those familiar with the Miami area, the incident took place near Alton Rd. and 8th St.
