Mila Kunis on gaining 25 pounds after Black Swan “This is my normal body. It’s not 98 pounds”
As Glamour‘s August cover girl, Mila Kunis spoke about two of the biggest double standards in Hollywood: scrutiny of women’s weight and age.
Mila’s gained 25 pounds since her Black Swan days, when the 5’4″ actress weighed only 98 pounds. She pointed out that she’s healthier now and has more muscle; but no matter what her weight is, people complain.
“This is my normal body. It’s not 98 pounds. God, I’m probably 25 pounds heavier in muscle mass and weight at this point. What was crazy was, when I was shooting Black Swan, everyone was like, “Gosh, you’re really too skinny.” Then my weight started bouncing back and they’re like, “She looked better when she was anorexic-looking.” You can’t please anyone! It was just for work. I didn’t do it because I had issues. Now this is my normal weight that I started out with.”
Not only can women not win with their bodies in Hollywood, they’re not allowed to grow old (but men are.) The 28-year-old noted that she’s being paired with love interests a decade or two older than her (Mark Walhberg, Clive Owen) because as men in Hollywood age, they’re still considered sex symbols, but female stars aren’t.
“I think that male actors are allowed to get older and female actors are not. So you have your 40-year-old guys being paired with a twentysomething woman. The documentary Searching for Debra Winger is the best thing that explains it.”
Mila brushed off rumors that she’s dating Ashton Kutcher or her Blood Ties costar Clive Owen.
On the gossip about her dating life:
“Ninety=nine percent of it is bullshit. That is the biggest form of bullying ever, the paparazzi. Printing lies, making accusations, it’s just bullying.”
One of Mila’s favorite hobbies is having a glass of wine and writing OK Cupid dating profiles for her friends, and even chatting with their potential love interests (at least two OK Cupid guys have chatted with Mila.) Mila also likes to put up pro-Obama graffiti around L.A.
Glamour: Do you fund-raise for Obama?
Mila: More like street-art-based stuff in Los Angeles that I can’t talk about … because I’m pretty sure it’s illegal.
Glamour: You graffiti?
Mile: Mm-hmm. I’d rather do that. I don’t need attention for it. What I truly believe in I will do privately.
