Lauren and Josiah Duggar reveal she had a miscarriage in October
Counting On couple Lauren and Josiah Duggar are opening up about the difficulty they had dealing with Lauren’s miscarriage, which happened just after they found out she was pregnant with their first child back in October.
Josiah and Lauren shared the news in a lengthy Instagram post earlier today. Here is the full post, which accompanied a photo of the couple:
Many of yall don’t know this, but a couple of months ago we found out we were expecting, however, soon after we miscarried.
At first, we kind of wanted to just stay quiet about the news, but knew that since everyone is anticipating for us to announce that were having a baby, we felt like it was time that we told everyone that our first and only baby is in heaven. It is hard to hear when people asks us if we are expecting, when we only recently lost our baby. You can imagine it was devastating to the both of us.
Our expectations of setting up a baby room, hearing the heart beat, feeling the baby’s first kick in mommys tummy, holding our little one and getting to to see our precious baby were – Shattered. Gone. Right before our eyes. Even though our sweet child is no longer with us, it is such a comfort to know that one day we will get to see our baby in Heaven!
To the ones who have gone through this, I know your pain. It’s real and terrible. I just want you to know you don’t have to suffer in pain alone. It is not your fault.
We greatly appreciate your prayers as we go through this hard time!
Love, -Josiah and Lauren
Lauren and Josiah iterated some of what they wrote for their Instagram post in a TLC me video shared on DuggarFamily.com:

“So, about a couple of months ago, we found out that we were expecting, but suddenly thereafter, we lost our baby,” 19-year-old Lauren says as she stands with husband Josiah.
“It really was a hard time for our family,” 22-year-old Josiah adds, “just going through this right after we got married. All our dreams of getting to see the little one and hold it in our hands were dashed before our eyes.”
Lauren then continues: “We really wanted to share our story because we know a lot of people go through miscarriage, but nobody really talks about it. And so we just wanted to let y’all know that you’re not alone.”
“We love you guys and we thank you for your prayers and support for our family,” Josiah concludes.
Lauren and Josiah will be sharing their miscarriage story on the new season of Counting On, and People got an exclusive preview clip of the two of them discussing it for the TLC cameras:

“Lauren and I were actually preparing for a trip to go to a friend’s wedding over the weekend,” says Josiah. “She started feeling really sick and started noticing some different things. Mrs. Swanson was there, so she was able to help her out. I didn’t know exactly what was going on.”
“I wasn’t feeling well,” a tearful Lauren recalls. “I was cramping really, really bad, which was quite strange because I normally don’t. I was thinking maybe I had something that had gluten in it. So that was what I was thinking. It was late at night and I went to use the restroom and there was the baby. Gone. I couldn’t believe it, and I was hoping it wasn’t true.”
The new season of Counting On premieres tonight at 9/8c on TLC.
