AUDIO Jason Derulo confirms splits from ‘Marry Me’ muse Jordin Sparks
Jason Derulo and Jordin Sparks have split after three years, he confirmed on Thursday.
“Everything is cool,” he said during a radio interview with KDWB. “It’s not a bad situation… It’s not one of those kinds of things.”
Rumors of a breakup began swirling earlier in the day and were relatively surprising, considering the couple looked happy together at the MTV Video Music Awards in August (at top) and Jordin said she planned to join Jason on his upcoming tour. A source told Us Weekly both Jason and Jordin were sad to end their relationship.
“They are both upset. It just wasn’t working out,” the source said. “It was a lot of travel and hard to work with their schedules.”
During happier times, Jason penned hit song Marry Me about his relationship with the American Idol champ.
“It’s talking about how amazing it will be when I get down on one knee and it will be the greatest moment of my life,” he told E! News in 2013. “You can’t fake anything because true love is true love, and that’s the basis of our relationship.”
