Hugh Hefner files for divorce from wife: Who is Kimberly Conrad Hefner?
Hugh Hefner is making headlines because he’s divorcing his wife of 20 years, Kimberly Conrad. They got married in 1989, and have been separated since 1999. Hugh’s gone on to have multiple, simultaneous relationships with young blond things since the split, but never officially broke it off with Kimberly. What’s the story with their marriage, and why is Hugh finally divorcing his wife?
Hugh Hefner met Kimberly Conrad in 1987, and was immediately smitten. Before meeting Condrad, Hef was living the life of a perpetual playboy, and no one expected him to get married again. Hef had last been married from 1949 to 1959 to Mildred Williams. The pair had two children: Christie (born November 8, 1952) and David (born August 30, 1955). Hef was unfaithful during his first marriage, something Mildred allowed because she had had an affair while he was away in the military.
Kimberly Conrad was the only woman Hugh Hefner was ever faithful to, and the rumor is that she is the one who ultimately slept with another man and decided to move on. When the pair split in 1999, Kimberly moved next door where she could raise their two children, Marston (born April 9, 1990) and Cooper (born September 1, 1991), in close proximity to their father. Tuesdays were famous for being “Family Night” at the Playboy Mansion where the children, and sometimes Kimberly, would come over to watch movies and spend time with their father without the playmates around.
Hugh Hefner then began dating multiple women at once, but he never divorced Kimberly. Now, however, it seems like they no longer need their convenient marital arrangement. The couple’s children are now almost adults, and Playboy has had financial trouble in recently that led to Hugh selling Kimberly’s house earlier this year for $28 million.
Kimberly didn’t take well to Hugh’s listing, and slapped him with a $5 million lawsuit. Now, after years of staying together for the sake of the children Hugh has taken the suit as the last straw and filed for divorce from Kimberly Conrad Hefner on Friday, September 4, 2009. 83-year-old Hugh Hefner told TMZ that Kimberly cheated on him “early in the relationship,” while he remained faithful.
Hefner is asking the judge to let him pay Conrad $20,000 a month in alimony, citing that he has already given her $12 million throughout the marriage. He also plans to continue paying college tuition for his sons Marston and Cooper.
Just last year Hefs relationship with three of his most famous girlfriends:Holly Madison, Kendra Wilkinson and Bridget Marquardt. The three women were famous for starring on the reality show The Girls Next Door. Hefner has now moved on to twin girls: Karissa and Kristina Shannon and Crystal Harris. UPDATE: Hef went on to propose to then 24-year-old Cyrstal Harris, who promptly left him right before their televised wedding June 2011, which was also right before her Playboy cover came out.
