Couples Therapy Season 6 confirmed, fans asked to suggest couples
Dr. Jenn is coming back! And so is a brand new cast of five celebrity couples at a crossroads in their relationships who will undergo three weeks of intensive relationship therapy in Season 6 of Couples Therapy on VH1. So who will the new couples be? That decisions has yet to be made, and producers want your suggestions!
“VH1 wants to know who YOU would like to see on the couch with Dr. Jenn,” the network’s press release states, “by encouraging fans to tweet their couples of choice to @CouplesTherapy using the hashtag #CouplesTherapy.”
From the press release:
In season six of VH1 Couples Therapy with Dr. Jenn, the chosen couples will hope to repair the problems in their unique relationships which have been magnified in the Hollywood spotlight. The sixth season of VH1 Couples Therapy with Dr. Jenn is slated to premiere in Fall 2015. Tune in to see if your couple of choice makes it to the couch with Dr. Jenn.
Dr. Jenn Mann (formerly Dr. Jenn Berman), a well-known marriage and family therapist, author, speaker, and radio host, will be the relationship therapist for the couples for her sixth consecutive season. Dr. Jenn is the host of the popular call-in advice program The Dr. Jenn Show [formerly] on Sirius XM, which is heard nightly. She is the author of three bestselling books: SuperBaby: 12 Ways to Give Your Child a Head Start in the First 3 Years, The A to Z Guide to Raising Happy Confident Kids and Rockin’ Babies; and has a new book about relationships on the way (Sterling Publishing). People come to see her in her private practice for a variety of reasons, such as: relationship issues, parenting, eating disorders, substance abuse, depression, anxiety, self-esteem, trauma, and sexual abuse. She also works with performers and entertainment professionals dealing with creativity and performance issues. Dr. Mann also created the popular weight loss app “No More Diets” application, which is currently available on iPhone & iPad.
Alright Starcasm readers, who would YOU like to see on Couples Therapy Season 6? And no, you can’t cheat and ask that Farrah Abraham appear by herself again — not that we don’t all want that, but it’s a cop out pick. We thought very short and very not hard and managed to come up with our Top 10 List of who we’d like to see in the Couples Therapy With Dr. Jenn house this fall:
10. Jessa and Ben Seewald
Ben and Jessa’s sessions with Dr. Jenn would not likely be earth-shattering to say the least (“We argue all the time because I like Goldfish crackers and he likes the Walmart brand.”) but I think millions would tune in to see Jessa and Ben living in the same house with the likes of Courtney Stodden, Farrah Abraham and Flavor Flav!
9. Ray Rice and Janay Palmer
This would be a very high-profile score for the show, but I think it would benefit both Ray and Janay (who have stayed together even after he viciously punched her and knocked her out early in 2014, an incident caught on video and initially posted online by TMZ) and could allow Dr. Jenn a platform to really explore the repercussions of domestic violence and whether or not Janay electing to stay with Ray could possibly be a good decision.
8. Kody Brown and his sister wives Meri, Christine, Janelle and Robyn
Yes the Browns made the list mainly because of the novelty of having a polygamous “couple” on the show, but these five adults do have some very unique relationship issues that would be interesting to watch Dr. Jenn try to tackle!
7. Breaking Amish‘s Mama Mary Schmucker and Chester Schmucker
Do I have to explain the potential awesomeness of this one? Mary would have the entire house guzzling vodka and eating meat out of a jar while Chester could give Ben and Jessa someone to talk to. Plus, by the end of the three weeks everyone would receive a handmade afghan!
6. Bert and Ernie
The new season would definitely benefit from featuring a gay couple (Whitney Mixter and Sada Bettencourt are still two of my all-time favorites) and Bert and Ernie DEFINITELY have some issues to work out — first and foremost is admitting openly that they are gay! (If VH1 is unable to coax Bert and Ernie to come out and be on the show, then they could default to the attention seeking Miss Piggy and the sure-to-be reluctant Kermit the Frog. Miss Piggy always brings the drama!)
5. Jenelle Evans and Nathan Griffith
What’s a season of Couples Therapy without a couple (or individual) from MTV’s Teen Mom franchise? Jenelle and Nathan are all but GUARANTEED to ramp up the drama and the volume in the house, and the show could potentially have the greatest reality show episode of all time when Jenelle’s mom Babs comes for a visit and a group therapy session!
4. Tori Spelling and Dean McDermott
I’m guessing this suggestion will have some readers rolling their eyes, but I am thoroughly addicted to watching these two interact and anything that allows me to see more of it has my ringing endorsement! (Besides, they’re already in therapy, so their appearance would just be an extension of that.)
3. Kim Kardashian and Kanye West
This just isn’t going to happen I’m sure, but I thought I would shoot for the moon with at least one selection. (I didn’t even dare to mention Beyonce and Jay Z with the inevitable extended visit from Solange! ERMAGERDD!!! Oh wait, I did dare to mention it.)
2. Mama June and Sugar Bear
It’s time to redneckognize and get these two shack ’em up mates back together! And I think producers should push the boundaries a bit and let Honey Boo Boo move in too. I can already see the scene in my head where Honey Boo Boo continues to try to get Tori Spelling to explain what it means that she has a migraine.
1. 90 Day Fiance‘s Danielle and Mohamed
OK Dr. Jenn, it’s your greatest challenge EVER! And I don’t think getting these two would be unrealistic at all — just offer Danielle a few hundred dollars and Mohamed some screen time and they’re in! (Actually, they reportedly got evicted late last year, so they might do it just for the nice roof over their heads.) If Danielle and Mohamed are unavailable (or one of them has been deported) then my next vote is for Jason and Cassia. After that, pretty much any 90 Day Fiance couple will do! (Actually, TLC and VH1 should partner and just transition all their couples every season right into the Couples Therapy house. They could call it 21-Day Honeymoon with Dr. Jenn.)
