Hip hop mogul Chris Lighty died at his home in The Bronx earlier today. The long-time manager of P. Diddy, 50 cent, and Mariah Carey had been dealing with a few personal issues regarding his ex-wife earlier in the day which leads law enforcement to believe that his death was a suicide. Chris had been called “one of the most powerful figures in the hip-hop business.”
Chris’ body was discovered around 11:30 this morning in the backyard of his apartment along with a semi-automatic firearm. Although his death is still under investigation, police believe Chris shot himself in the head.
Sources close to Chris tell TMZ that he had been arguing with his ex-wife prior to his death. The couple had divorced last year, and Chris was never the same.
Just three days ago, Chris tweeted his last tweet. Ironically, it was about losing a friend. “Rest in peace to my main man The Grand Incredible Dj Scott La Rock. I am still Criminal Minded. 8/27/87,” he wrote.
Several of his friends have tweeted their memories and sadness via Twitter upon hearing the news of his tragic passing.
