VANDERPUMP RULES: Jax Taylor’s tragedy and how he convinced Brittany to date him again

The Vanderpump Rules reunion, which airs Monday night 9/8c, is a very emotional one for bad boy Jax Taylor. He gets candid about the passing of his father this past Christmas, a heartbreaking event that gave Jax perspective on what he valued most in life. Season 6 ended with Jax choosing to break up with Brittany Cartwright after a rough few months of Brittany struggling to cope with Jax’s cheating, so it’s a bit of a surprise that the pair are back together and going strong.

“He was my best friend.I talk to him every day,” Jax tells Andy when he enquires about his father’s December 26, 2017 cancer-related passing. He still refers to his dad in the present tense and breaks down as he recalls getting the phone call from his mom that his father had died. He’s so overcome with emotion that the rest of the cast, as well as host Andy Cohen, can’t hold back their own tears.

Brittany was there for him in that moment and “ever since then, I can’t imagine myself with out her,”
he says. The real question, however, is why Brittany chose to forgive him after multiple betrayals.

“I was trying to do my own thing, but he crept his way back into my heart again,” she dished to E!’s Daily Pop. She ignored his advances for awhile, but his persistence paid off for Jax in the end.

“I would have like 30 missed calls from him. He just wasn’t going to give up on me,” Brittany explained. “And I knew that I loved him still. I was trying to act like I didn’t, but in the end, I’m just so glad that we are where we are now. We are so much better than we ever have been. I don’t know, maybe we should have broke up sooner so that we could have gotten to this point sooner.” Brittany also related that the passing of his father “opened his eyes.”

Jax and Brittany seem to be better than ever, and lit up the Kentucky Derby together this weekend.

The end of Season 6 of #PumpRules showed Jax potentially quitting SUR and moving to Florida, but Jax no longer wants to move to Florida because he only wanted to go to be closer to his father.

“That Florida job, yeah, that was 100 percent real. The only thing that stopped me from doing it was the timing,” he told Andy Cohen on an episode of Watch What Happens Live last week. “I just lost my father. The main reason [I was going to Florida] was to be closer to my father and once he passed away I just didn’t want anything to do with Florida.”

So, Jax is back together with Brittany and isn’t moving to Florida, but it’s still unknown if he’s still working at SUR. No doubt the reunion will shed light on Jax’s future with the Vanderpump Rules restaurant.
