Chris Brown denied access to UK, forced to cancel gigs

Following up on an earlier “Where Are They Now?” post, Chris Brown is resurfacing again this time by not being allowed to resurface in the UK.  The work visa denial for the “Run It” singer is a direct result of his infamous assault of ex-girlfriend Rihanna, for which Brown served community service.

In a statement, Britain’s Home Office was patently clear about the rejection:

“We reserve the right to refuse entry to the UK to anyone guilty of a serious criminal offence. Public safety is one of our primary concerns…each application to enter the UK is considered on its individual merits.”

Brown had three concerts in Glasgow, London, and Manchester that he is now forced to postpone or possibly cancel.  The “Fan Appreciation” tour (that is really what they’re calling it) promoters have said that the shows are just being postponed “due to unforeseen circumstances” and to hold on to the tickets for “possible re-arranged dates.”  It’s kind of shocking that no one in Brown’s entourage considered the prospect that his violent criminal record might prevent him from entering the country!

Brown made a public apology to his fan appreciators via his Twitter page but subsequently removed the post.  Who is running the show with this guy?  Here is what Brown had to say:

“SORRY to all the fans in Europe! My tour is cancelled, I’m pretty sure y’all know. My entry was denied in your country. I love you. SORRY!!”

A spokesperson for Brown said that “Chris Brown looks forward to performing for his fans abroad in the near future and thanks them for their continued support.”  If I were holding one of those CB tickets I would be looking for a refund.  It could be a loooooong time before he is allowed to make up those dates, and by then people may not even remember who he was.
