Chip and Joanna Gaines are looking for new Fixer Upper families (but meeting the Schuyler Sisters is not included)
Work’s begun on Fixer Upper Season 5 episodes, which means Chip and Joanna are now looking for that all-important element: families to film! High Noon Entertainment, the production company responsible for Fixer Upper, has put out a call for interested couples and families. The criteria for appearing on Fixer Upper aren’t as crazy as you might expect, though a few of the provisions are rather specific.
The most significant of these is location: as we’ve written about before, Chip and Joanna are 100% dedicated to their Waco roots and aren’t currently willing to work outside the city. In order to get on Fixer Upper, you have to be willing to buy or in the process of buying a home within a 40-mile radius of Waco. The Gainses–and High Noon–are pretty intransigent on this point; it’s the only item on the list of requirements to be in bold.

Beyond that, eligible participants must “Be outgoing, energetic and fun!”, “Be in need of expert design and construction help for [their] new fixer upper home,” and “be 21 years of age or older.” And, second-most importantly after location, they must also make sure they’ve handled their financial situation: you’ll need “a minimum $30,000 budget for the renovation.” The casting call further states that your “financial contribution should be proportional to the amount of renovations your new home will need.” In other words, don’t think Chip and Joanna show up and do all the work for free 😉 (Click here for our article on how the show’s budget works for the people involved.)
Other than that, all you’ve got to do is fill out a form and share some pictures! So, if you’re a fan of the show and don’t mind the thought of history having its eyes on you, you simply must apply! Click here for the official casting call.

One more thing: as you may have guessed from the photo at the top of the article, Chip and Joanna recently took a quick little trip down Houston way to attend the Super Bowl. The Gainses managed to snag a few celebrity photo-ops while in attendance–though there’s no word yet on whether the Fixer Upper Season 5 episodes will actually feature the Schuyler Sisters:
Not bad! But Joanna forgot two hashtags: #itmustbenice and the ever-relevant #work 🙂
Fixer Upper Season 5 is expected to debut in late 2017 on HGTV.
