You never know who you are going to see at the South by Southwest festival in Austin, but the audience at Willie Nelson’s show was still surprised to see that the guitar player Willie introduced simply as “John” was actually Hollywood mega-star Johnny Depp. It doesn’t get any hipper, and it doesn’t get any weirder… Good ol’ Austin!

Willie Nelson is a seemingly ageless spiritual guru with a beard and long hair who is constantly traveling, likes to smoke, and almost always has a piece of wood with him in the form of his famous guitar, Trigger. So of course he would be a perfect fit to play JRR Tolkein’s wizened wizard, Gandalf! Voters in Colorado, Washington approve recreational marijuana use

While the big story from last night’s election was the victory of Barack Obama, a couple of western states snuck in a little “you know what” laws while the rest of us weren’t looking. The people of Colorado and Washington have voted to legalize the recreational use of marijuana. It’s a major breakthrough in the long fight for legalization of cannabis but don’t go whipping out your bongs and calling up Willie and Snoop just yet. As always, there’s a catch.

Last night’s Grammys was a seriously star laden affair with veterans Paul McCartney, Bruce Springsteen, and a reunited Beach Boys joining the likes of newcomers Adele and Taylor Swift. With all of these mega-names British band Coldplay got somewhat lost in the shadows and to make matters worse were topped by a commercial that followed their performance. South Carolina couple Jacob Simmons and fiancee Gentry Lee Sutherland say they see the likeness of Jesus Christ in a Walmart receipt. A look back: Willie Nelson’s ‘Spirit’ 15 years later

So what if I told you that musical legend Willie Nelson released arguably his best album in 1996 to little fanfare or critical acclaim? And what if I told you that if this hidden gem were to be classified as a “country” album that it would be the very best release under that genre in the last 20 years? You would probably think, like that character in Willie’s classic song, that I’m crazy right? Well I may be crazy but this is exactly my opinion of Nelson’s masterpiece Spirit.

I have certain very personal feelings about the fact that Willie Nelson was arrested in Texas for possession of 6oz of marijuana. Well at The Players Ball 2010 Snoop Dogg was able to communicate exactly how I felt about the situation and his feelings in regards to our elder and the respect he’s earned.

Sheriff who arrested Willie Nelson suggests citizens arm themselves with guns in drug war

As the entire internet has reported Willie Nelson has been arrested in Hudspeth County, Texas for marijuana possession. After a little research I found an interesting Fox News video that does not bode well for the Red Headed Stranger. The County Sheriff, Arvin West, wears an eleven-gallon-hat and openly encourages his citizens to arm themselves in the war on drugs! See Arvin’s message that lets us all know that west Texas is still the wild west and is certainly no country for old men (like Willie).

Country music legend (and my personal guru) Willie Nelson was arrested again last week for pot possession after Willie’s tour bus was stopped at a Sierra Blanca, Texas checkpoint and a diligent officer smelled Willie Nelson marijuana. See his mugshot from the Hudspeth County jail and watch video evidence of the horrible effects of a lifetime of pot smoking as Willie recites the lyrics to “Me and Paul” and performs “I Never Cared For You.”
