Things have been a little slow on the Tiger Woods mistress front, so I’m forced to fill the “professional athlete sex scandal” void with some D-list baller boinking. New York Jets wide receiver Braylon Edwards was apparently going deep on former America’s Next Top Model contestant Nik Pace’s tight end and the result was little Braylon Jr., born in August.
According to the New York Post, Braylon immediately filed to be recognized as the boy’s father, but was surprisingly rejected by Pace. The 25-year-old model relocated to New York after Edwards was traded to the Jets and now she is suing him for $70,000 a month child support.
Edwards has reportedly been paying support since the birth of the child and is accusing Pace of waiting and relocating because the state of New York is traditionally more generous when awarding child support payments. From the Post:
“Nik’s main home is in Georgia, she is registered to vote in Georgia, and she gave birth in Georgia, which is why he immediately asked the courts in Georgia to recognize him as the dad,” a source said.
“She only moved to New York in November after he was traded to the Jets. He wants to be part of the child’s life, but she wouldn’t even tell him where or when the child would be born so he could be there. He wants to provide for his son. He has been paying support since the birth.”
It’s rare that the professional athlete in these situations comes across across as the victim, but despite his five-year NFL career it sounds like Nik Pace is the real player here! This all sounds like an elaborate game of Mouse Trap that started with a “don’t worry, I’m on the pill” hook-up and is coming to a close now with a very large plastic cage falling down around Braylon Edwards. Being a victim of the Braylon fantasy hype the last couple years I’m just glad to hear that he is in fact able to score.
