Arrest warrant issued for Scandal’s Columbus Short over brutal beating as violent history is revealed
Scandal‘s Columbus Short is a wanted man for felony aggravated battery. The charges stem from a March 15 fight between the actor and another man.
According to TMZ, the other man insulted Columbus during an engagement party earlier this month. An eyewitness said Columbus later approached the man from behind and sucker-punched him in the nose — breaking it and knocking the guy unconscious for a few minutes. Columbus fled before authorities arrived. The other man was hospitalized.
Because of the man’s serious bodily injuries, Columbus will be charged with a felony. This carries a maximum sentence of four years in prison.
Now, TMZ says Columbus’ outburst doesn’t appear to be an isolated incident. Back in 2010, Columbus was charged with aggravated battery after getting into a fight during a game a basketball. (Below is a video of the other guy, Jason Hill, showing off his injuries.) He pled no contest to disturbing the peace and the battery charges were dismissed.
More recently, Columbus was arrested for spousal abuse after getting in a fight with his wife, Tanee McCall-Short. Because his 2-year-old and 10-year-old children were in the room, he was also charged with child abuse. He pled not guilty on Tuesday.
He was arrested again two weeks after that incident for pushing his wife during an argument.
The whole domestic situation sounds pretty toxic, considering Tanee filed for divorce (under real name Tuere Short) last September. They are still together, but it doesn’t sound like they’ve really been making it work.
