BREAKING AMISH Kate Stoltz opens NYFW pop-up shop, designs dress for Grammys red carpet

Former Breaking Amish star Kate Stoltz continues her odds-defying post-reality show success story as she opens up her very first pop-up shop for her own clothing label in New York City during Mercedes Benz Fashion Week!

The last time we checked in with Kate she was explaining to fans why she was not on the new season of Return To Amish as she prepared to graduate from the prestigious Fashion Institute of Technology. Kate has since graduated and used her degree to secure a position in Product Design at Jason Wu. And all of this comes after being recognized by the Demiurge Awards and putting together an impressive professional modeling portfolio that includes appearances in the Spiegel catalog and Maxim magazine.

As if all of that wasn’t enough, Kate has remained focused on developing her own label, and her pop-up shop will feature her first full collection consisting of fabrications including delicate laces, superfine wools, luxurious silks and hand embellishments and embroideries.

Here are some photos of Kate at her shop as well as a sample look from the collection that includes a draped velvet skirt and chiffon lace blouse modeled by Zazoe van Lieshout:

One of the dresses featured in the collection has already had its debut on one of the biggest stages in the fashion industry — the Grammys red carpet!

Kate’s strapless full-length sequined gown was worn by Nikki Glor, who is married to CBS Evening News anchor Jeff Glor. Jeff shared a red carpet photo on Instagram and revealed that Kate went over the top in her role as designer and tailor. “Thank you @katestoltz who stopped at restaurant to fit @nikkifitness 15 minutes before show,” he captioned the photo. “The best.”

OK, back to the pop-up shop…

For those fashionistas looking for a little something new, Kate has exactly that with her own line of canine fashion inspired by her photogenic pooch Victoria Stoltz. Here’s Victoria modeling one of her original Kate Stoltz looks:

In addition to being a model and a designer, this brief video seems to hint that Kate is also handling some of the photographer duties as well!

Once again, I’d like to express my admiration for Kate’s work ethic and applaud her many hard earned successes. Not only has she been successful as a professional model — one of the most competitive industries on the planet — but she is now a FIT graduate with her own line and a pop-up shop in New York City during Mercedes Benz Fashion Week! I assume that Kate’s appearance on Breaking Amish might have opened a few doors for her (like the Maxim spread), but I’m guessing that for a lot of her professional goals, her reality show past has been more of a hindrance than a help. There are so many reality stars who aspire to be models or have their own “clothing line” that I imagine it makes it very difficult to be taken seriously in either of those cutthroat worlds.

All of that being said, I am hopeful that Kate will make her return to reality TV — not as part of Return To Amish, but as a designer on Project Runway. I would think that her chances of being cast for that is one of those things that could be improved because of her past reality show experience! But, I digress.

Kate’s pop-up shop is open to the public through Sunday, February 11th at 251 Elizabeth Street in NYC. The full collection will be available for purchase starting on February 12th at https://www.katestoltz.com/.
