Bobbi Kristina autopsy results to be revealed following judge’s order

Bobbi Kristina Brown, daughter of Whitney Houston, found unconscious in a bathtub

The Bobbi Kristina autopsy results, long a source of controversy and contention in the ongoing saga of the 21-year-old’s death, have been ordered unsealed. An Atlanta judge ruled that the Bobbi Kristina autopsy results be made public in response to a First Amendment request filed by a news conglomerate in defiance of the State’s request that they be kept private.

Atlanta’s own 11 Alive originally broke the story. Superior Court Judge Henry M. Newkirk ruled in favor of TEGNA Media and decreed that the state of Georgia make public the Bobbi Kristina autopsy results, which will include, for the first time, the official cause of Bobbi Kristina’s death. The records were ordered sealed last September because of the sensitivity of the investigation into former boyfriend Nick Gordon and any potential role he may have played in Bobbi Kristina’s death.

The court found that the records must be made public because the original order to seal them “was entered without notice to the public and without an opportunity for a hearing, in violation of the First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.” It’s believed that the records will be unsealed within the next few days, and possibly as early as tomorrow.

Georgia state attorney Paige Whitaker protested the ruling, saying that the state has nearly completed its investigation: “We hope to wrap up before too much longer. We are still actively investigating this case,” he said. “At this point, it is sensitive information that could jeopardize the case….Right now there is information in that that might be only privy to people investigating this case and to the perpetrators. It is not in the public interest of public safety, of crime-solving of the confidentially of investigations.”

Bobbi Kristina Brown Big Feature

As 11 Alive further points out, there is renewed public interest in the Bobbi Kristina autopsy results because of the network’s four-part documentary Inside The Triangle, which examines heroin use in Atlanta’s northern suburbs. The documentary (available for streaming via the link above) makes a connection between Bobbi Kristina and three heroin-related deaths in Atlanta.

Though former friends and associates have said–some of them under oath–that Bobbi Kristina was a drug user by the end of her life, no concrete evidence of any hard drug use has yet surfaced. It’s alleged that the Bobbi Kristina autopsy results could, potentially, carry evidence that drugs were in her system at the time of the bathtub incident that led to Bobbi Kristina’s six-month coma.

Nick Gordon, still the sole suspect in the criminal investigation of Bobbi Kristina’s death, has not offered a comment.
