Corey Simms explains confronting Leah Messer about drug use allegations

On last night’s episode of Teen Mom 2, Corey Simms and wife Miranda Simms confronted Leah Messer about rumors of her drug abuse.

“We understand what you deal with,” Corey said, after Leah told him she was leaving for an intensive therapy program for a few weeks. “We’re saying, is there something you take to deal with those problems? Can you look at me and Miranda in the eyes and tell us there is no drug problem?”

“There isn’t a drug problem,” Leah said twice.

“I think I know there is a drug problem,” Corey responded. “And I think that you’re afraid to tell me….The first step is admitting that you have a problem, [and not] beating around the bush about a problem that you’re making up so that you can avoid your real problem.”

Leah cut him off to say, “Shame on you.”

Even though a later scene in the episode seemed to show Leah in an inebriated state while talking to her brother, Corey was harshly criticized by some of Leah’s fans on Twitter for being an “a**hole.” He rarely responds to such comments, but issued a long statement today, which addressed why he fights for custody, and why he confronted Leah.

“Idk why I’m tweeting this because I honestly do not care what people think or what they say about me but anyways,” Corey said in the first of a series of tweets. “There is a reason for everything that Miranda and myself have said or done. We simply want the girls to grow up in a safe and healthy environment.”

Corey explained he heard claims from “very close members of her family” that led him to believe certain rumors about Leah were “very much true.” He added, “If we didn’t care about the girls or the situation we would obviously not have anything to say or do about it. Thank you to the people who understand and to the people that don’t well that just sucks now don’t it?”

Corey is reportedly still fighting Leah for full custody of their daughters. She has yet to respond to his newest comments.
