On this season of Teen Mom 2, Leah Messer’s been accused of sleeping late; leaving her children to fend for themselves; and failing to get the girls to school on time. In tonight’s episode, she even admits she struggles to sleep and can’t maintain a schedule. However, The Ashley’s Reality Roundup reports Corey Simms cannot use any of that footage as evidence during his ongoing custody battle with Leah.
“Nothing in the show can be used in court by parties that have signed contracts,” an insider said, explaining Corey attempted to use the footage, but was denied. “The reason is because in the contracts it says that MTV has the right to portray things however they want.”
Longtime Teen Mom followers may remember the 2010 footage of Amber Portwood striking Gary Shirley, which led to charges against her. Why was that footage admissible? The Ashley reports the difference is Amber’s footage shows her committing a crime, while Leah’s footage isn’t incriminating–just damaging to her custody case.
Despite the strategical setback for Corey, he is reportedly still fighting for full custody of his twin daughters; the former spouses most recently met in court earlier this month. It’s still unclear what came of that meeting, but Leah later posted a cryptic message for her daughters, saying she “will ALWAYS look out for your BEST interest even when it’s hard for me.”
