Nicolas Cage’s son Weston Cage appears to have gathered his marbles after losing them very publicly back in 2011, and yesterday the 23-year-old heavy metal musician announced on Facebook that he is now a proud dad after his wife Danielle Cage gave birth to their son, Lucian Augustus Coppola Cage, the day before.
“Our beautiful son was born yesterday,” Wes wrote. “Truly a perfect child from a perfect Mother and a warrior Father.” Sadly, we have yet to see a picture of the littlest Cage, but Weston says that will soon change.” There will be no photographs as of now but in time his gorgeous smile will be seen,” he said.
Meanwhile, new mom Danielle Cage (seen in the photos above showing of her baby bump at the 2014 Revolver Golden Gods Awards in April) also shared her excitement on Facebook:
At 3:14 PM [Tuesday], my husband and I welcomed our beautiful baby boy into the world. Becoming a mother has already changed so much within me, and I am so grateful to have been able to experience everything I have throughout my pregnancy and the birth of my son, Lucian Augustus Coppola Cage.
As far as the name, Danielle told Us Weekly at an event in February, “Lucian is of Romanian descent, which is what I am.” She then added, “And Augustus is taken from Weston’s grandfather.”
“His name is August,” Wes then said. “We honor him very much. He was of extreme brilliance. He was a genius.”
And in case you didn’t know, Coppola is also a nod to Wes’s granddad (and Nicolas Cage’s dad), whose full name was August Floyd Coppola. August was a literature professor and brother of director Francis Ford Coppola.

In addition to the bouncing baby boy, Wes also has another bundle of joy being delivered soon in the form of an album! Titled Prehistoric Dichotomy, it will mark the first solo venture for the former lead singer of the black metal bands Eyes of Noctum.
“September is going to be the release of the first single, and then February will be the full [album] release,” Wes told Starpulse.com in a recent interview. “I’m quite pleased with the record. It’s a perfect almagamation between industrial, folk – as in world – heavy metal, and symphonic, [with] a lot of instruments that haven’t been used.”
So can fans expect to see Wes performing live near them soon? “There’s definitely going to be a tour,” he says. So what about little Lucian? “Of course the baby’s going to come along,” Wes revealed. “That’s how I grew up. I used to visit my dad on set. I would literally wake up and just hear, okay, we’re going to some different country tomorrow. I did actually enjoy it in the long run. I appreciated having that experience. So I want my son to have that experience.”
Congratulations to Wes and Danielle! I have to confess that I had serious doubts he would be able to get his life straightened out after his epic public meltdown in 2011 that included a whirlwind romance with Nikki Williams that rapidly went from engagement to marriage to acrimonious divorce. Along the way, Wes was involved in a brutal altercation with his dad’s personal trainer that was caught on video and ended with Wes tied to a gurney and being hauled to a hospital for evaluation, both he and Nikki were arrested for domestic violence, Nikki had one rehab stint and Wes had two, and Wes was arrested for attacking himself — all the while Wes was documenting his take on what was happening in a series of social media ramblings that spiraled into what can only be described as surreal lunacy.
BUT… Wes seems to be seriously on the right track now as he heads into another realm of surreal lunacy: fatherhood 😉 Now we all need to just sit back and wait for the first photos of little Lucian’s “gorgeous smile!”
