Nicolas Cage’s son Weston Cage has clearly staked his claim to the looniest celebrity crown previously held by such Hollyweird luminaries as Mel Gibson and Charlie Sheen. In his latest act of coo-coo, Weston was arrested for felony domestic violence after reportedly being cut in an altercation with himself.
According to TMZ the shaven headed aspiring mixed martial arts fighter “was arrested at 5AM in Hollywood — and then taken to a nearby hospital to be treated for cuts … and we’re told, cops believe the injuries were self-inflicted.”
The site also reports that Weston’s wife Nikki Williams Cage, who was arrested with Weston after a dispute in their home on July 4, was safely far away from him at the time.

According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department web site Weston Cage was released today at 4:54 on $50,000 bond and has a scheduled court date for the incident on August 10, 2011.
The self-assault comes on the heels of the announcement Weston’s wife Nikki was signed to Chameleon Entertainment by producer Breyon Prescott. From the press release:

Williams grew up in Port Elizabeth, South Africa, and now resides in California. In April she received media attention for her marriage to black metal band Eyes of Noctum’s lead singer Weston Cage, the eldest son of actor Nicholas Cage.
“Working with Breyon Prescott is good for Nikki,” said Nikki’s manager Aaron Phillips of PTM. “She is an incredible singer and a force to be reckoned with.”

So could Weston’s alleged self-inflicted wounds be due to jealousy over his wife’s success? Or perhaps Nikki decided, based in part on the recent signing, that she should leave Weston? It makes sense given Weston’s Facebook status update on July 6 in reference to his pregnant wife:
