How much do celebs make for sponsored tweets? The top earners may surprise you!

Top Twitter Earners

When it comes to social media, Twitter is king when it comes to brands paying celebrities to promote their products. And, it’s certainly a mutually beneficial relationship: Brands connect with a specific fan base while the celebrities stand to make more than $100 per character.

The Huffington Post used IZEA to break down how much some stars get paid to tweet.

Celebrity Earnings for Sponsored Tweets

What’s really interesting about that is that celebrities earnings are by no means proportional to their number of followers. Just look at Jared Leto: He has far fewer followers than Khloe Kardashian, yet he earns the same amount per sponsored tweet.

That caused us to wonder which celebrities make the most per follower. We calculated by dividing their earnings per tweet by the number of followers. The results were pretty surprising…

1. Melissa Joan Hart – $0.0282

2. Stacy Keibler – $0.0198

3. Sean Lowe – $0.0128

4. Jared Leto – $0.0124

5. Lisa Rinna – $0.00455

6. Tia Mowry – $0.00448

7. Kendra Wilkinson – $0.00351

8. Ashley Benson – $0.00279

9. Tyrese – $0.00267

10. Holly Madison – $0.00205

11. Bella Thorne – $0.00194

12. Khloe Kardashian – $0.00160

13. Frankie Muniz – $0.00144

14. Lance Bass – $0.00143

15. Snooki – $0.00123

16. Marlon Wayans – $0.000955

17. Mike Tyson – $0.00086

18. Farrah Abraham – $0.00048

It seems that celebrities gain the most when they are viewed as reliable and trustworthy — just like old friends. With Melissa Joan Hart, many Twitter users grew up watching her on Clarissa Explains It All and many more are rediscovering her on Melissa & Joey. She’s got a wide variety of devoted followers who view her as a dependable source for brand suggestions.

On the other hand, Khloe Kardashian’s market is spread out among a whole family of Kardashians. If the price isn’t right with her, brands can just pay one of her sisters or mother. Plus, she shares sponsored tweets much more frequently, which lessens her overall credibility.

Then there’s Farrah at the bottom of the list because — well — are you really inclined to take suggestions from Miss Backdoor?
