VIDEOS Love & Hip Hop New York’s Remy Ma reveals ectopic pregnancy, says she still intends to have a baby

LHHNY Remy Ma pregnancy update 2

It’s been almost a year since Love & Hip Hop New York fans learned that Remy Ma and Papoose were expecting a child. The couple dropped the news during the Season 6 reunion, and appeared to reveal their baby’s name and gender just days later. Since the spring, though, the couple shared no new information on Remy’s pregnancy, and Remy didn’t appear to be showing in any of her photos on social media. As the months passed, it looked like most of the show’s fans assumed the initial LHHNY Remy Ma pregnancy update had been a hoax, or that she and Papoose had intended to get pregnancy, but hadn’t done so yet. Unfortunately, during last night’s episode, we all learned that the truth was much, much worse.

At the top of the episode, Remy broke the news of her pregnancy to Papoose. Given how hard these two have tried to get pregnancy, it made for one of the show’s all-time sweetest moments:

But then came the worst possible news: Remy had an ectopic pregnancy, and the fetus had to be removed. In addition, Remy found out that, according to the doctors involved with her pregnancy, she will be unable to have children at all. “It seems like no matter what we do,” a broken-hearted Remy tells Papoose from her hospital bed, “like, all the worst stuff just happens.”

Amazingly, Remy found the strength and courage to thank her fans–still reeling from the news, and wondering how in the world she must be feeling–in an Instagram update just after last night’s episode aired. In addition to her many loving words, Remy said that she intended to keep trying for a child despite her ectopic pregnancy, vowing that “God has the last say so.”

First, thank you to everyone that sent their congrats as well as condolences?? This was a hard time for me & my husband & we thought long and hard before deciding to share this part of our lives with you all. I was totally against it but in a fit of crying @papoosepapoose said " you are not the only one going thru this , we will get thru it" …made me realize how many women like myself experience the same thing and don't have a strong partner by their side to say it will be alright. So I'm here to tell anyone going thru a similar situation that it is not over and God has the last say so Thank you to the staff at the hospital I was in; you all were super nice & respectful and did everything to ensure I was comfortable. And to Dr. Razmzan , who came to perform my surgery at 5am, who tried his best to leave me scarless and succeeded, who eased any fears I had- THANK YOU, & don't retire yet cuz once we find the right in vitro dr you have to deliver my babies ?#BlackLove #RemyMa #MeetTheMackies

Judging by the reaction to the episode and Remy’s update, every single fan is pulling for her and praying for either a misdiagnosis or, as Remy suggested, a successful in vitro (or surrogate) fertilization. The shock of this news will resonate among Love & Hip Hop viewers for some time–we can only imagine how terrible Remy Ma and Papoose must feel, and our hearts go out to them.
