VIDEO Miley Cyrus serenades Selena Gomez cutout with “FU” — plus Miley and Selena’s feud history
During a Milan stop on her Bangerz tour, Miley grabbed a fan’s cardboard cutout of Selena and proceeded to serenade it with her performance of FU.
“I don’t know what to say… I was over it the second that I saw your name,” Miley sang before dramatically and forcefully throwing “Selena” off the stage.
Miley and Selena were friends — or, at least, friendly — while starring on popular Disney shows. The first cracks in the Happy Disney BFF facade appeared in 2008 when Miley and Mandy Jiroux mocked a video Selena and Demi Lovato made. Miley later apologized: “If we offended them we’re super sorry. They were being funny on their show and Elvis says imitation is the greatest form of flattery, so we were imitating them.”
The rumored feud was reignited last summer when Miley “spent time with” Justin Bieber, who is, of course, Selena’s on-again/off-again boyfriend. Although Selena and Justin were off-again at that time, she reportedly wasn’t happy with Miley’s moves. Miley later denied any hanky-panky took place by reminding everyone she was engaged… But, sources said that did little to ease Selena’s mind.
“Justin and Miley hooked up a few years ago,” Selena’s friend told Life & Style in June 2013. “Then he started dating Selena. It created this whole jealously thing between them. Now Selena doesn’t want Justin anywhere near Miley — and they’ve been fighting about it!”
Earlier this year, sources said Selena, Demi and Taylor Swift took great care to avoid bumping into Miley at awards shows or other events. A Hollywood promoter added that Selena’s crew even talked clubs out of booking Miley’s performances.
After those reports in February, all was quiet on the Miley/Selena front… Until Miley’s apparent statement with the Selena cutout.
