VIDEO MacGruber trailer with photos!

The Film MacGruber is scheduled for release in April, 2010

Watch the new trailer for the much anticipated film adaptation of MacGruber, based on the popular silly spoof of the 1980s television series MacGyver from Saturday Night Live. The movie is being made by Rogue Studios, who released this trailer today:

Judging from that sample it looks as though we’ve got another forgettable SNL-to-the-big-screen snoozer. The only reason the skit were successful on SNL was because they were short, silly and digestible – oh and MacGruber blew up every 30 seconds. I just can’t imagine movie-goers are going to be able to stomach Will Forte’s title character trying to shoulder a plot for an hour and a half without dying over and and over again.

That being said, the trailer is quite enjoyable! Kristen Wiig earns her surname by sporting a beautiful early ’80s action drama babe hairstyle, and we get to see the new and severely unimproved Val Kilmer as a pudgy-faced, pony-tailed villain. The silliness comes at us quick, and more importantly, is gone quick.

Something tells me this is going to be one of those movies you’re going to need more than just your fingers and toes to keep tally of all the poop and fart references, and not in a good way.

Also starring in MacGruber are Ryan Phillippe, Powers Boothe and SNL veteran Maya Rudolph. The movie is scheduled to be released April 23, 2010.
