Pink diamond sells for $46 million

Rare pink colored diamond sells for record amount

A rare, 24.78 carat, pink diamond has been sitting in a private collection for 60 years before coming to auction in Geneva yesterday and selling for a record $46 million.

The huge pink rock is now in the possession of British jeweller Laurence Graff, who broke his own record, which he set in 2008 when he purchased a 35.56-carat Wittelsbach-Graff diamond for $24.3 million.

Of the pink stone Graff noted, “It is the most fabulous diamond I’ve seen in the history of my career and I’m delighted to have bought it.”

According to Yahoo News, an observant Israeli dealer at the auction eloquently understated “These are crazy prices.” But mostly people were really impressed that someone was able to come up with $46 million in this economy!

The sad part about this whole story is that Kanye didn’t get a chance to buy the diamond for the top portion of his diamond grill. A little touch of pink would really complete his look.
