PHOTOS Kail Lowry donates $10k to create scholarship fund at Delaware State University
Teen Mom 2 star Kailyn Lowry is paying some of her success forward — literally. The 24-year-old mother of two and junior Mass Communications major at Delaware State University recently attended the DSU homecoming events where she presented the university with a $10,000 check to create an endowed Kailyn Lowry Scholarship!
Delaware State University, which has a long and proud history as one of America’s Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), shared this announcement about Kail’s donation:
The Kailyn Lowry Scholarship/Department Support, begun with $10,000 (half to go toward a Kailyn Lowry Scholarship for Mass Communications students and the other half to go in support of DSU’s Department of Mass Communications). Ms. Lowry, who is a junior mass communications major, is regular featured subject on the MTV series Teen Mom 2, and is a published author.
“Early on in my tenure as president, the University made it a priority to develop a much stronger culture of giving,” DSU President Dr. Harry L. Williams said. “With each passing year we have been seeing more fruits of that ongoing effort from alumni and friends who are adopting this vision. Their understanding of the importance of investing in our students is making DSU a greater institution.”
In addition to the announcement, the university also shared numerous photos from the check presentation, which included Kail, her sons Isaac and Lincoln, and an over-sized check with Kail’s face on it! Here are some shots reshared by Kail on Snapchat, Instagram, and Twitter:

Kail’s donation was part of a hugely successful homecoming weekend for DSU as the university received an anonymous contribution of $450,000 and created four new endowed scholarships in addition to Kail’s.
It will be interesting to see if Kail’s donation inspires other Teen Mom 2 and Teen Mom stars to follow suit. There could be a Farrah Abraham Culinary Scholarship for The Arts Institute of Fort Lauderdale, and for potential Miller Motte students, how about a Jenelle Evans Medical Office Assistant Scholarship? Oh, and Ryan Edwards should definitely create an endowed fund for those who want to remain on their parents’ couch, but don’t necessarily have the income provided by a successful reality show. I’m just spit balling here! 😉
All kidding aside, kudos to Kail for sharing some of her good fortune.
