Leaked Real Housewives contract reveals what ‘Friends of the Housewives’ are willing to sacrifice
A newly obtained copy of The Real Housewives of New Jersey contract reveals some interesting tidbits about what goes on behind the scenes of the “reality” television show!
Based on the unsigned legal document, which was exclusively shared by Radar Online, even the unpaid, non-housewives must agree to strict conditions. In exchange, they (may) get to appear on television.
This almost certainly applies to “Friends of the Housewives,” but may also include family members and casual guests. Here’s what people willingly sign away with the Real Housewives appearance release form…
— They waive any rights to compensation.
— They accept the show may “fictionalize” any footage.
— They may be exposed to “public ridicule, humiliation or condemnation.”
— They must keep all details in the “strictest confidence.”
— They may not be under the influence of any drugs or medication.
— They may not run for political office within one year of filming.
— They will be charged $50,000 per breach of the contract.
The full, five-page contract was written by Sirens Projects 1224, the company that produces Real Housewives of New Jersey. However, it seems the rules are enforced across the whole Real Housewives franchise: Real Housewives of Atlanta star NeNe Leakes made similar stipulations in the agreement wedding guests were forced to sign.
With this is all exposed, I can’t help but wonder how the political office clause affected filming for Real Housewives of D.C. Maybe it explains why that show was so short-lived!
