Khloe Kardashian slams Perez Hilton in anti-bullying video
Khloe Kardashian has joined the ranks of celebrities who have taped a PSA to condemn bullying in the wake of recent teen gay suicides throughout America. With Khloe’s confession there is a special twist in that she singled out blogger Perez Hilton as her worst tormentor right after Hilton publicly announced that he would change his bullying ways!
Here is the clip first and then I’ll follow up with some direct comments made by Khloe about Perez:
“Perez Hilton asked me himself to do this video and he’s doing such an amazing thing by getting all these celebrities to speak up to people but, for me, Perez has been my personal bully.”
I have to say that I was surprised and inspired by Khloe’s honest and gutsy acknowledgement of the fact that what Perez Hilton has done via his website has had lasting effects on her life. Especially because it was Hitlon who requested that she make the video! She goes on to say of Perez:
“He has given me the nickname of Transvestite, tranny, and has written words on my face such as fugly.”
I think what really provides punch to this clip is that the notoriously controversial self described “Queen Of All Media” has yet to respond. Even when he tweeted an under-aged photo of a Miley Cyrus up skirt he came back with guns blazing with a snarkafied video. When you silence Hilton you’ve done something.
On the other hand some of the clip comes across as celebrity belly aching. When your livelihood is essentially being a personality you should have thick skin when it comes to media scrutiny. You can’t be famous for being famous and not have the negative portrayals out there. To expect that is simply being unrealistic. While many times it appears as if Hilton’s tactics go too far, to complain about hurt feelings when the media world posts a self described bad photo of you and then comments about it unflatteringly reeks of wanting your cake and eating it too.
I say good job Khloe for confronting your bully but lets not ask the whole world to only say nice things about you. The criticism comes with the career of fame. But just like all walks of life their needs to be boundaries and your outspoken clip may help in establishing just that.
