Kardashians magazine nixed over Kris Jenner demands for complete control

Kardashians magazine premiere issue

It seems as though the world may yet be spared the existence of a Kardashians-only magazine as the potential deal with American Media Inc. (Star, National Enquirer, Shape, Radar Online) has reportedly stalled due to Kris Jenner’s demands for complete editorial control over the content.

From Page Six:

Our source told us AMI “balked” at the demand, even though megalomaniac mom Jenner offered to “dish” all of the family “scoop” to the fanzine. AMI execs argued they didn’t want to just swallow saccharine “Kardashian krap,” noting that while they have a television deal with E!, other outlets often get better scoops on the family.

Page Six says Star magazine “dealt the deal a mortal blow” when it ran with a story last week that claimed Khloe Kardashian isn’t really Robert Kardashian’s daughter, which was followed up by an article in this week’s National Enquirer claiming O.J. Simpson is in fact her real dad.

“AMI chief David Pecker made it clear that there was no way he was going to tell his editors what stories they could and couldn’t do,” our source said. In turn, Jenner pulled Kardashian-related product ads from Star.

So no all-Kardashian fanzine controlled by Kris Jenner? I can think of at least ten people seriously disappointed by this news. Just think of all the dirty secrets we would have found out about Kris Humphries!

AMI isn’t the only company shying away from the Kardashians. According to another New York Post article, the Kardashian brand is starting to be viewed as toxic by industry insiders. “Everything the reality family touches turns absolutely toxic — with party promoters, magazine editors and television execs all scrambling to blacklist them, insiders told The Post.”

Oh well. You can still get your Kardashian lovefest fix if you’re happen to be in Las Vegas, though. Just pop in the Kardashian Khaos store at The Mirage!
