Jim Carrey and Jenny McCarthy have called it quits after five years, the comedian confirms via Twitter.
Jenny and I have just ended our 5yr relationship. I’m grateful 4 the many blessings we’ve shared and I wish her the very best! S’okay! ?;^>
Jenny also commented on Twitter:
Im so grateful for the years Jim and I had together. I will stay committed to Jane and will always keep Jim as a leading man in my heart.
Jim and Jenny have been against marriage during their run, but have also been very vocal about their love for each other. Just this Valentine’s Day Jenny hired a skywriter to declare her love for Jim.
Although they never legally married, they had a special commitment ceremony in Malibu last September where they promised to be be together forever. In January of 2009, Carrey set up a $50 million trust for McCarthy, a former sexy-goofy MTV girl and Playboy Playmate.
But before all that they did something that really shows their commitment: They appeared on Oprah together!
Carrer (48) has been married twice before and McCarthy was married once to actor/director John Mallory Asher. She has a 7-year-old son with Asher, Evan, who was diagnosed with autism in 2005. Jim Carrey, who recently became a grandfather, has been very vocal about his involvement in Evan’s life. Jenny has even famously referred to Jim as “the autism whisperer” because of his ability to deeply communicate with Evan.
