Is Lamar Odom improving? Star opens his eyes, breathes on his own, asks for his children
Is Lamar Odom improving? According to multiple new reports, the former NBA star’s condition might be a bit more positive than yesterday, when doctors said he was “entirely unresponsive.” Several sources claim that Odom is waking up from his coma, though doctors still urge caution.
Earlier today, Lamar Odom improving seemed almost an impossibility–reports coming out of the former Los Angeles Laker’s hospital room were dire indeed. Doctors said that there had been absolutely no improvement in Odom’s condition, and warned that, even if his health were to improve, the chances of a full recovery were nearly impossible.
Now, though, it appears that Odom might in fact be healing from the overdoses and seizures that sent him to his hospital coma just a few days ago. According to USA Today, Odom’s eyes have opened, and are moving in response to light and noise in his room.
Additionally, a report in the New York Daily News claimed that Odom “indicated” he wanted to see his two children: 17-year-old daughter Destiny, and 13-year-old son Lamar Jr. The Daily News report did not say what “indicated” meant, but corroborated the fact that Odom opened his eyes, and likewise confirmed an update from earlier this morning, that Odom’s heart activity was increasing–a good sign, say medical experts.
On Twitter, the hashtag #PrayersForLamar continued to trend, and two family members Tweeted out their hopes:
