Eva Longoria calls herself a great example of an amazing, complex woman

Desperate Housewives‘ Eva Longoria isn’t desperate for more things to do.

Speaking with Hong Kong’s Prestige magazine, Eva said she takes “advantage of every single hour of the 24-hour day.” That seems to be necessary, considering Eva founded two charities (The Eva Longoria Foundation and Eva’s Heroes), is politically active (she was co-chair of President Obama’s 2012 reelection campaign), founded her own production company (UnbeliEVAble Entertainment) and got a graduate degree (Chicano studies from Cal State).

Even though it’s all keeping her busy, Eva says the hard work is worth it to set an example for others.

“Women are complex. Women are beautiful and intellectual and spiritual and social and entrepreneurial. They’re everything,” Eva said. “I think I’m a great example of that.”

The desire to inspire was also a main reason Eva went back to school.

“The fact that I did it while I was on a hit show and running around the world… I look back and go, ‘What was I thinking?’ When I started it, I didn’t think it through or I probably wouldn’t have done it,” Eva said about beginning her studies in 2010. “Everyone finds reasons not to go back to school. Once I founded my foundation about pursuing higher education, I wanted to be the example of no matter what, you can always go back to school. No matter how old, no matter how busy.”

Since proving it is possible to lead a full life and go to school, Eva’s ready for others to stop making excuses.

“Everyone thinks, ‘I don’t have enough time.’ There’s a lot of wasted time in your day that you don’t realize,” she said. “I just flew in yesterday from Mexico City. I ran to two meetings and a conference call in the car – and another conference call while I was grocery shopping.”

Of course, Eva likely has the benefit of some assistants to help her get some of the work done. Still, there’s no denying she’s way more than a pretty face!
