Newly divorced Tamra Barney has been spending a lot of quality time with lesbian belly dancer Fernanda Rocha on the first two episodes of The Real Housewives of Orange County. Tamra often references their flirting (which includes kissing on the lips.) Were they ever more than just friends? Fernanda revealed during Season 3 (during a conversation with Lynn Curtin, and Fernanda’s ex-wife) that she shared a romantic kiss with Tamra on Tamra’s birthday last year while Fernanda was still married.
Even though Tamra seems smitten with Fernanda, and has no qualms about on-the-lips goodbye kisses (or New Year’s Eve make-out sessions with Andy Cohen,) it looks like her relationship with Fernanda is just playful and platonic because she’s really serious about her new boyfriend Eddie Judge. But that leaves us with the burning question: Who’s Fernanda dating?
Fernanda was originally slated to be one of the main cast members of the OC, being the first lesbian to be cast in any of the franchises (besides the short, unforeseen, dip Kim Zolciak took in the lady pond.) Unfortunately, it looks like a permanent place on the cast may have fallen through, because Bravo dropped her pic from the official promo banners, and didn’t give Fernanda her own show intro.
It’s about time for a real-deal lesbian storyline on the Real Housewives franchise. We see a lot of gay men, but besides Kim’s brief foray, there’s been no real lady–lady action.
