Bruce Jenner’s mom says she’s ‘more proud’ of his transition than anything else

Bruce Jenner's Mom Esther Jenner

Like most of the country, Esther Jenner said she only recently learned of Bruce Jenner’s decision to transition and live life as a woman.

“Bruce filled me in, and we had a very long, long, long talk about it,” Esther told Radar Online of her child, adding she “did not know of his” feelings until recently. But, now that Bruce has opened up to her, Esther said she is “whole-heartedly” supportive. “Right now I am more proud of him for what he’s allowing himself to do. I am more proud of him now than when he stood on that podium and put the gold medal around his neck. He deserves all the respect.”

Esther explained that although the process is challenging, Bruce is determined to go through the transition not just for his sake, but also for the sake of the others who might benefit. Esther said Bruce believes it will be worth it “if he can help other people with emotional problems.”

One way Bruce plans to improve awareness about transgender issues is by sitting down to Diane Sawyer for an exclusive interview, multiple sources now confirm. According to Page Six, producers will begin filming portions of the segment this week and it will air in May.

As we previously reported, Bruce will also thoroughly document his life changes in a reality show for E!. It’s still unclear when that will premiere, but sources say it likely won’t be until the upcoming season of Keeping Up With the Kardashians finishes.
