Bruce Jenner is filming E reality show about transitioning to a woman
Bruce Jenner officially announced that she is a woman during a prepaid interview with Diane Sawyer tonight, and also revealed that she will be filming an E series documenting the transition. Bruce declined say her new name, but indicating that there will be a new one.
“I look at women and I think, ‘Oh my God, how lucky are they to wake up in the morning and be themselves,” she said. “But me, I’m stuck in the middle.”
Bruce said that she always was female, and is happy to finally be living life as herself. She’s been married three times, the latest to Kris Jenner, and explained that while she was dressing as a woman in private and even taking hormones that made her grow “size 36 B” breasts when she met Kris 25 years ago, Kris was ultimately unaccepting of her desire to transition and come out.
Bruce’s 10 children were also a source of anxiety for her. Step-daughter Kim Kardashian actually caught Bruce dressing as a woman once, and kind of freaked out and left. Later, Kendall and Kylie also caught Bruce on their computer’s security camera. After he finally came out, his older children.
Bruce said that of all her kids, Khloe took it the hardest because she felt she was losing another man in her life. She also told him that in order to be a woman, she needed to have a “vayjayjay.” Kim seemed reticent at first, but became extremely accepting after Kanye defended Bruce’s decision, explaining that above all else he personally needs to be himself, and so does Bruce.
Kim immediately came to Bruce to show her new support, and even gave her some diva advice. “Girl, you gotta rock it, baby,” Kim told her. “You’ve got to look good. You’re representing the family, you’ve got to look really good.”
When Diane Sawyer asked if she was gay, Bruce replied, “No, I’m not gay. I am as far as I know, heterosexual. I’ve never been with a guy, I’ve always been married, raising kids.”
Since she’s a woman, but has always been a woman, Sawyer asked her if she’s a lesbian.
“You’re going back to the sex thing, and it’s apples and oranges,” said Jenner. “Sexuality is who you are personally attracted to. But gender identity is who you are as a person and your soul and who you identify as inside.” She also added that the next year will be about transitioning for her, not about finding new love, but if she does date again, she isn’t putting limits on gender. She says for now, it makes sense to call her “asexual,” in terms of sexuality.
