Bobbi Kristina’s prognosis grim as her family remains hopeful

Bobbi Kristina’s family members and their attorneys maintain a positive outlook regarding the fate of the 22-year-old. Despite all the well-wishes, though, her prognosis remains bleak. Bobbi Kristina continues to live in an undisclosed “rehabilitation center” in DeKalb County, north of Atlanta, while her family plans to move her back to her Roswell townhouse as soon as possible.

There have been several reports of “near-death” moments over the past few weeks, and family has been by Bobbi Kristina’s bedside continuously since she was discovered unconscious in her bathtub at home on January 31st. The family remains cautiously optimistic that Bobbi Kristina can make enough of a recovery to live without the assistance of machines; lawyers for the family recently released a statement which seemed to indicate that possibility, though the depth of Bobbi Kristina’s brain damage could be extensive:

There has been improvement. Doctors have indicated that she will have a long life. However, Bobbi Kristina is presently embarking on a rehabilitation process and the quality of her life will not be known for years to come.

Each of the family’s messages over the past week has been markedly upbeat, moreso than the cautious missives of winter and early spring. Bobbi Kristina’s cousin Jerod Brown also shared an update on Facebook this week, one addressed to Bobbi Kristina specifically. Jerod’s previous messages tended to be more about himself–and sometimes asked for prayer, at least in part, for Bobbi Kristina’s beleaguered father Bobby Brown–but this one continues its call for prayer while making sure those prayers are addressed specifically to Bobbi:

Despite what you are going through Krissi, YOU ARE THE TRUE HERO! Me, myself haven’t had a talk with God in quite some time. I think I speak for quite a few of us when I say you brought us all together to have a talk with the man upstairs. AND LIKE I TOLD YOU BEFORE, AS LONG AS IM ALIVE I GOT YOUR BACK. I WILL CONTINUE TO UPLIFT YOU SIS, I LOVE YOU AND WILL CONTINUE TO STAY ‪#‎CHARGED‬-+ FOR THE CAUSE ‪#‎PrayForBK‬ ?

Bobbi Kristina’s Aunt Leolah recently raised eyebrows with a statement that suggested BK “continues to make progress,” without saying specifically what that progress is, or how it might have come to be. No medical experts have commented on Bobbi Kristina’s brain damage since the earliest days of her hospitalization, and it’s not known whether the “complete healing” to which Leolah refers is a long-term goal, a short-term belief, or cautious optimism.
