Rosie O’Donnell’s 17-year-old daughter Chelsea O’Donnell was found Tuesday after being missing for more than a week. Police have confirmed that she was found in the attic of 25-year-old Steven Sheerer (mug shot photo above), who has an arrest history that includes heroin charges and a charge of endangering the welfare of a child.

Rosie actually was the first to release the identity of Sheerer with these two tweets:

The Barnegat-Manahawkin Patch article reveals that Steven Sheerer was arrested along with a woman named Emily Loudis in 2012. Sheerer and Loudis, both 22 at the time, were in a car with Loudis’ children, aged 1 and 3, in the backseat when they were stopped by police as part of a two-month narcotics investigation. Both Sheerer and Loudis were arrested and the two children were taken into protective custody by police before being turned over to family members.

From Patch:

Loudis was charged with second-degree endangering the welfare of a child, third-degree possession of heroin, driving under the influence, reckless driving, possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle, and driving while suspended, Germain said.

At the same time as the motor vehicle stop was taking place, Germain said, police officers executed a search warrant at Sheerer’s home on Village Drive, Germain said. They discovered heroin, marijuana and drug paraphernalia, he said.

Sheerer was charged with third-degree possession of heroin with the intent to distribute, third-degree possession of heroin, third-degree endangering the welfare of a child, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Police have since released some of the details about finding Chelsea O’Donnell. According to People, the Ocean County Police Department received a tip around 6PM on Tuesday. After officers “were able to triangulate Chelsea’s location” they arrived at Sheerer’s home. From People:

According to police, the officer “knew something was up. He could tell something was off with Sheerer. His behavioral cues were off. He could tell he was hiding something and was nervous.”

The officer “put two and two together and went into the house. He explained to him he wasn’t leaving.” When the officer’s search reached the attic, he found Chelsea: “She was hiding up there,” confirms the OCPD spokesman. “She cooperated very well. … She came down and we brought her to the police station. Our role is making sure she’s happy, health and safe.”

Patrolman Nicholas Dapuzzo told Page Six, “I wouldn’t say he was a boyfriend, more of an acquaintance. She stayed there a few nights and she had stayed elsewhere, but she wouldn’t tell me where.”

Dapuzzo added, “I couldn’t say they were sexually involved. But they met through Tinder sometime in July.” Chelsea reportedly told officers that she did not want to go home and said “she was fine.”

According to police, Chelsea was found huddled in the attic along with her therapy dog named Bear. Rosie tweeted this photo of Chelsea with Bear on Tuesday when she was still missing:

“Rosie is very concerned about the guy [Chelsea] was found with,” a source close to the actress, host, and comedian tells People. “Rosie is extremely concerned about everything and is trying to figure out what to do next.”
