Celine Dion’s husband Rene Angelil has been fighting throat cancer for some time, but it seems his diagnosis has recently taken a turn for the grim. Dion, 46, revealed in a recent interview that the 73-year-old Angelil’s throat cancer has become so severe, he requires a feeding tube to get nutrition.
“He can’t eat, so I feed him,” said Dion, as she wiped tears away. “He’s got a feeding tube [and] I have to feed him three times a day.” She was interviewed for a segment that will air today on both Good Morning America and Nightline, in her Las Vegas hotel suite with Angelil by her side.
Angelil had a cancerous tumor removed in December of 2013, at which point Dion suspended her Las Vegas residency to care for him. She recently announced that she will return to Caesar’s Palace for a renewed residency that will take her into 2019.
In addition to the 2013 surgery, Angelil has been battling throat cancer since an initial diagnosis in 1999.
The couple wed in 1994, and have three children together.
