After three years of marriage, Hilary Duff and Mike Comrie announced they have separated.
“They remain best friends and will continue to be in each other’s lives. They are dedicated to loving and parenting their amazing son, and ask for privacy at this time,” Hilary’s rep told People, adding it is “an amicable separation.”
Hilary and Mike, a retired professional hockey player, wed in 2010. They welcomed son Luca Cruz Comrie in 2012.
A source close to Hilary said the pair tried couples therapy, but realized they work better as friends.
“There was no major incident – no big event between the two of them. They really did drift apart. They have put effort and thought into this decision for a long time.”
The friend noted Hilary and Mike are “still going to go to the park together,” which they were pictured doing on Jan. 6.
This is one celebrity couple that I’m honestly a bit sad to see split. They always seemed so cute together and easily have one of the cutest kids in Hollywood… But, what matters most is their abilities to work together as parents. If it takes a separation to make that happen, then more power to them!
