Miami Housewife Lea Black responds to Cristy Rice $1,000 hooker controversy

Real Housewives of Miami star Lea Black at her annual gala

If you missed our comprehensive earlier post Lea Black of The Real Housewives of Miami turned up the mama-drama by calling into Watch What Happens Live last night and accusing fellow Housewife cast member Cristy Rice of acting like a $1,000 hooker among other scandalous things.

This all stemmed from her annual charity event, The Black’s Gala, which was featured prominently in the 2nd episode.  Rice showed up at this elite Miami social affair after having gone through dealing with a flat tire and as Lea puts it “crashed” the party without a ticket or RSVP.  Here is the video of the explosive phone call in question, please pay close attention to the absolute stunned faces on host Andy Cohen as well as Housewives Marysol Patton and Cristy Rice!

The morning after, Lea fielded questions via an online chat hosted by HollywoodLife.  Lea was asked a variety of questions including her thoughts on Charlie Sheen’s public face-melting melt down but I’m going to single out the Q & A’s in regards to “hookergate.”

So did a good night’s rest calm down Lea’s ire?  Let’s find out!

••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••

Q: It looks like you put a lot of time and effort into the gala, did it hurt your feelings that Cristy tried to crash it? And why do you think she didn’t want to give money to such a good cause?

Lea: I assumed that Christy, in good faith, would make a sizable donation and apologize for not RSVPing that night…but rather, she went around trashing the charity and calling me a bitch and telling people we should have paid her to show up! At the time, I didn’t want the party/gala to become anything except “for the kids” and that the people that had paid — had a good time and get their monies worth!

Q: Lea, how hard was it to film with Cristy after she crashed and for the remainder of the season — is this rift a plot line we are going to continually see?

Lea: I didn’t take Christy crashing the party personally…it could have ended up being all in good fun, had she just done the right thing immediately following the event by sending in her payment. for three people. I gave her the benefit of the doubt, but when it became clear she had no intentions of paying, I sent her an invoice certified mail.

Lindsay, the uncomfortable part was that because it took a month for her to finally pay — and I’m still convinced the only reason she ever paid was that we were filming and she knew she would be exposed. So, the uncomfortable part for me is spending my time with people that feel they don’t have any responsibility to do the right thing, especially for kids in need.

Q: The whole point of a charity event is to raise money. I can’t believe that Christy would just crash it. I think you handled it really well.

Lea: Jasmine, you’re right – it’s a fundraiser…and the difficult thing for me to understand how someone could possibly justify spending thousands of dollars on cloths to show up at an event — but do not want to donate money that can literally save a kids life and freedom.

Q: Do you think you’ll ever forgive Christy?

Lea: Keren – this is not about forgiveness. It’s about doing the right thing and telling the truth.

It looks like Lea can hold a grudge and hold it tight!  I’m curious as to your opinion in regards to this whole “hookergate.”  I think most of us can agree that Lea had the right to be upset about Cristy’s appearance without paying but do you believe she should still be harboring such staunch resentment about the affair or should she have let this one go by now?

You can read all of Lea’s interesting answers about topics other than her Cristy bashing via HollyWood life here.

Lea is 100% correct about Cristy. I do not think Lea should have called Cristy a $1000 hooker but I comprehend it was her frustration with Cristy continuing to lie & spin the story.
Lea-the audience sees Cristy for who she is.

Cristy thinks the rules do not apply to her. Cristy had the opportunity to do the right thing however, she continued to lie and on a future episode calls Lea Black a bitch. Really Cristy- Stay Classy San Diego.

Everybody makes mistakes but it is how you make them right that counts.

1ST QUESTION TO ALL OF YOU WITH VAST OPINIONS: DO YOU KNOW CRISTY PERSONALLY?
#2 WERE YOU THERE BEFORE DURING AND AFTER THE EVENT

IF YOU ANSWERED NO TO ANY OF THE 2 QUESTIONS ABOVE THEN YOU BETTER CHOOSE YOUR WORDS WISELY WHEN GIVING YOUR OPINION….SEE THERE ARE ALWAYS 2 SIDES TO A STORY….AND PEOPLE CAN BE QUICK TO JUDGE WHEN THE HEAR ONE SIDE…ITS EASIER…GET THE FACTS AND THEN TALK..BECAUSE ALWAYS 3 SIDES TO THE STORY..IN THIS THIS SIDE THE OTHER SIDE AND THE TRUTH….

      KIND REGARDS

In response to DUQ’s incredibly defensive post:

One doesn’t have to know Christy personally (or you for that matter)to know that what you three did was wrong. You crashed a charity event for kids in need. What kind of person does that? Did you think it was a free event? And why did it take Lea a month to get the money OWED to her charity after you crashed it in such a rude, cavalier way?

I don’t see you offering any viable excuses here for your behavior. Why is that? Maybe it’s because the “3 sides to a story” that you speak of is really just Lea’s valid complaint and your lame, response is to not really respond at all. Just to tell people that “They’d better choose their words wisely”.

P.S. Your cap lock is on and you don’t use punctuation. Maybe you should stop partying and get an education. Your looks aren’t going to get you very far.

cristy is like all the other naive women/ladies in miami that think their *ish don’t stink.. i am cuban american born and raised in miami and thank god my parents raised me differently i was never influenced by the miami social chisme life … the ones who say they keep it real definitely do not and i have met many girls just like her and she definitely does NOT!

You know… there really are two sides to every story. And, I see them BOTH at fault.

      – Christy walked into a gala without reservations. The first thing she should have done was find Lea. From the editing, it seemed as though she was avoiding Lea during her time there.

Now… when I person pays for a ticket to a Gala fundraising dinner party, one should have an assigned table, or assigned seat. One is entitled to a meal and, usually, an open bar. Whilst Christy might have benefited by a drink or two as did her friends, the fact of the matter is – even despite the fact Christy paid for two seats and not three, her payment made the charity more money than it would have made had the three actually paid and sat down to have dinner.

Had the silly twit assistant not behaved like an idiot chasing Christy around and had Lea approached Christy NICELY that evening… I suggest things might have ended up differently.

In the end, BOTH of them behaved dreadfully. Actually, Lea Black behaved worse as she reverted to name calling on TV. In the end, I suggest this might have hurt the charity as Lea’s behaviour might turn off people who would elsewise attend the event.

Seriously, if this is really about the kids then does it really matter to call such national, extraordinary and NEGATIVE attention to the chartiy over 3 lousy, obviously self-centered and never-heard of before this show individuals? If Lea really cared about the charity, why in the world would she care about blowing this up so large and in such a negative way? They are both (Christy and Lea)immature for such grown women. With raising almost half a million dollars does she really need the extra negative publicity that is coming from the $3,000 for the 3 extra seats? We all saw that Christ and company were nasty and selfish and could care less about the kids and just wanted to put in a social appearance – they ranked really low in front of the Governor and everyone else. So what? Who cared. Lea should have taken the high road and just let them be seen for who they really are – nothings try to be something – not even has beens because they are never beens. But she sunk to an even lower level with that phone call. So much for keeping it real and making it about the kids.
