Neil Patrick Harris’ first Oscar promo is out, and it’s as straightforward as a Don Draper crotch shot. What’s NPH’s Oscar-based holiday advice? “Give your family the gift of simply telling them to watch me host the Oscars.” And why not? Every reasonable person is excited to see N-Pat-Har ham it up on Oscar night, which is now fewer than two months away. Plus, the guy’s already got extensive hosting experience, or “host-sperience”: he’s helmed the Emmys two times and the Tony Awards a grand total of four.
Of special interest where the Oscars are concerned, though, is the road ABC’s choosing to take. They’ve let Harris go full-on Stinson: His attitude, delivery, and lines are all straight from his character on just-ended How I Met Your Mother
ABC will televise the 87th annual Academy Awards on Sunday, February 22, at 7:00 Eastern. The nominations will be announced on January 15th, which is, like, tomorrow. Get excited.
