Neil Patrick Harris is going to host the 2015 Oscars

Late Show with David Letterman

Neil Patrick Harris, already riding high on his How I Met Your Mother success, his just-published autobiography Choose Your Own Autobiography, his Italian marriage, his beautiful twins, and his surprising turn in #1 movie in America Gone Girl, is about to have yet another reason for overwhelming happiness and joy.

That’s right: N-Pat is hosting the 2015 Oscars. Word.

Harris let the world know about the Oscar Selection Committee’s wise decision via Twitter, where he shared this Moby Picture:

Well-played, N-Pat. You’ve scooped the Academy Awards and inspired people the world over to re-awesomeify their bucket lists. And yet you still remain loveable! The guy’s a pro.

Harris also released a statement through traditional channels, and it goes like this:

It is truly an honor and a thrill to be asked to host this year’s Academy Awards. I grew up watching the Oscars and was always in such awe of some of the greats who hosted the show. To be asked to follow in the footsteps of Johnny Carson, Billy Crystal, Ellen DeGeneres, and everyone else who had the great fortune of hosting is a bucket list dream come true.

Of course, hosting duties are no new thing for N-Pat. He’s already MC’d the Emmy Awards, and helmed the Tonys several times. Hopefully at the Oscar ceremony we can see some more things like this:

What do you think, America and Oscar Viewers From Other Countries? Are you excited for this news? Will you watch just because N-Pat’s running the show?
