Tim Burton and Helena Bonham Carter end their relationship

Celebrities enjoy an evening at Winter Wonderland at Hyde Park

Tim Burton and Helena Bonham Carter, together since 2001, are no more. The couple split “amicably” earlier this year, but will remain friends. Which is handy, since the couple share adjoining London homes that they’ve had connected, as well as the stately gentleman’s mansion known the world over as Mill House.

In addition to property, Burton and Carter have two children together: their son, Billy Raymond, was born in 2003; daughter Nell Burton arrived in 2007. According to a rep, the couple remain friendly enough to “co-parent their children.” In fact, the photo above comes from a family outing just last month, after the separation but before it had been made public.

Since their first collaboration in 2001, Burton and Carter have worked together as director and star in seven motion pictures. In descending chronological order, those seven are: Dark Shadows (2012), Alice in Wonderland (2010), Sweeney Todd (2007), Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Corpse Bride (both 2005), Big Fish (2003), and 2001’s Planet of the Apes, which started their whole madcap adventure off. Carter will reprise her role as the Red Queen in next year’s Alice in Wonderland: Through the Looking Glass, which Burton is producing.
