PHOTOS New Boy Scout ad campaign depicts boys with beards

Boy Scout Be One With the Wild beard campaign

Hipsters and lazy bloggers beware, the realm of full grown Amish style beards are no longer your sole property!

In a print ad campaign masterminded by creative group Ogilvy & Mather we are shown four sparkling young boys looking off valiantly into the frontier with graphically imposed beards on their countenances. It’s as if these images are saying, “Yonder I see truth and adventure so why do I look like a prepubescent Zach Galifianakis!?!”

The campaign is entitled “Be One With the Wild” and this certainly is one wild ride of mind boggling images. It is aimed at boys from the ages of 11-17 and I guess it sort of lines up with the organization’s pitch of:

“…diving into the rugged world of outdoor adventure, relying on teamwork and character to accomplish what everyone else thinks is impossible.”

You know in middle school we had this one guy with a mustache and he drove a car but I don’t think he was in the Boy Scouts. Come to think of it, he often did have that far away look in his eyes.

While this campaign will probably fly like a lead zeppelin it won’t keep a good scout down. Established in the US in 1910, The Boy Scouts of America has grown in size to over 1.5 million Cub Scout members and over 800 thousand Boy Scouts as of 2010.
