Hilary Duff says she would do a Lizzie McGuire reunion — where is the cast now?
It’s been 10 years since Lizzie McGuire went off the air to the disappointment of thousands of fans who could relate to Lizzie’s occasional awkwardness, Gordo’s unrequited love or Miranda’s sassy attitude… Meaning it’s high time for a Lizzie McGuire reunion!
“I would be totally open to it,” Hilary Duff told Huffington Post this weekend of revisiting the character. “I mean, so many people loved her. I loved her… Maybe a Lizzie: Where Are You Now? like 10 years later.”
Before that reunion comes to fruition (fingers crossed), here’s a primer on what the cast is up to now…
Hilary Duff, aka Lizzie McGuire
The biggest star to come out of the Disney show, Hilary has three solo albums and a handful of starring movie roles to her name. After taking some time away from the business, she launched a music comeback attempt this summer and has a complete album on the way. She is also set to star an original TV Land series called Younger, which is scheduled to premiere in January 2015.
In terms of her personal life, Hilary has an adorable 2-year-old son and a not-so-estranged husband.
Adam Lamberg, aka David “Gordo” Gordon
Adam continued acting in indie movie roles after the end of Lizzie McGuire, but his most recent credit is 2008’s Beautiful Loser. On his unconfirmed Tumblr account, he said he felt more fulfilled by these roles — even if taking them earned him some criticism.
“Everyone seems to have their eyes on what I’ve become and some give me the feeling that I need to justify why I’m not continuing the same acting career which I started as a child,” he said last December. “Questions like why I only participated in Indie movies instead taking big roles like most of the Disney stars annoy me. People know so little but judge so hard.”
He also earned a geography degree from U.C. Berkeley.
Lalaine, aka Miranda Sanchez
The mononymous actress first rose to fame by playing Young Cosette and Eponine on Broadway’s Les Misérables. She seemed to pursued music more than acting after Lizzie McGuire — and was memorable absent from The Lizzie McGuire Movie. She ran into some legal problems in 2007 when she was arrested for felony possession of methamphetamine, but the charge was expunged from her record after she completed a treatment program.
In recent years, Lalaine did a stint with the band Vanity Theft as a bass guitarist and made a cameo in Easy A. She appears in two upcoming indie films.
Jake Thomas, aka Matt McGuire
After playing Lizzie’s younger brother, Jake continued to earn a number of credits in various TV shows, including Disney’s Cory in the House, House, Criminal Minds and more. He had a lead role this year in the YouTube miniseries Storytellers.
Jake is also a talented photographer and sells his artwork online. He posts more casual/equally awesome pictures on his Instagram account. (It includes some better pictures of him, but I couldn’t pass up the one with the cat.)
As for the other Lizzie McGuire characters I would hope to see in a reunion: Hallie Todd (mom Jo McGuire) seems to have retired from acting, Robert Carradine (dad Sam McGuire) appeared in Django Unchained among other things, Clayton Snyder (Ethan Craft) is a former college athlete/current super attractive dude and Ashlie Brillault (Kate Sanders) kind of dropped off the face of the earth.
Make it happen, Hilary! Make it happen!
