Avril Lavigne has been in the media spotlight lately due to some photos taken of her getting intimate with Brody Jenner on the beaches of Costa Rica. As it turns out, Brody may have just been a guinea pig for Avril’s latest foray in the field of fragrance! The punk pop princess is unleashing a new scent on the world called “Forbidden Rose,” due to hit stores on July 1!
(When I was growing up the scent of a girl’s “forbidden rose” carried an entirely different connotation. Oh wait – this is Avril we’re talking about. Maybe it’s not different at all!)
According to Lavigne, the teen-fragrance took two years to develop and is meant to “push the boundaries further than its predecessor.” The fragrance features wine-peach, red apple, black pepper, lotus-flower, heliotrope, praline agreement, shell-flower, vanilla and sandalwood.
In a Twilight-themed greyed-out set, here is Avril Lavigne’s commercial for “Forbidden Rose:”
This isn’t Avril’s first stab at perfumery, having already given the world “Black Star” late last year. On the homepage for her fragrances the “secret-garden/flower-pedal” symbolism is pushed to the maximum:
“Take a peek inside the Secret Garden to get a hint of its mystery… if you dare. Just click on the gate to peer through the keyhole. Every day, more of the garden will be revealed to you and soon the gates will open allowing you to discover the secrets inside.”
Avril never was much of one for subtlety. Then again, maybe this isn’t a perfume ad at all, but some sort of Chris Hansen To Catch a Predator traps! If so, I’ve been caught!
“Forbidden Rose” will be in stores July 1st, 2010.
