Tulisa Contostavlos arrested for selling cocaine after tabloid catches drug deal on camera

Singer and recently made former X Factor UK judge Tulisa Contostavlos was arrested earlier today on suspicion of supplying class-A drugs after a British tabloid caught her on camera setting up a cocaine deal in which her friend, part-time rapper Mike GLC, allegedly sold an undercover reporter a half ounce of cocaine worth more than $1,200.

During the sting operation, The Sun says their reporter asked Tulisa if she could get drugs. “Half my phone book sells it. Of course I can get it for you,” Tulisa allegedly said. “Half the guys I know are drug dealers. One’s a massive cocaine dealer. He’s my best friend. He’s a gangster — he’s my gangster.”

Initially she offered to get the undercover reporter marijuana. “Do you want weed?” she asked. “I’m going to speak to this guy. Whatever you want he’s got it.” The reporter asked if there were any other drugs she could get, to which she responded with, “Anything — cocaine.”

That meeting was cut short when she called one of her pals and in the middle of the conversation the person on the other line said, ‘My phone’s being tapped. End of conversation’,” and hung up.

Days later The Sun approached Tulisa again via a phone call, asking “You know you mentioned you might be able to get some white sweets?” (Tulisa had explained in the previous meaning that she and her pal used “lingo” that included calling marijuana “green sweets” and cocaine “white sweets.”)

“Oh right, yeah,” Tulisa said. “Definitely on the day. What I’ll do, I can definitely sort it — just got to make some more calls.” After the undercover reporter promised to keep the deal on the down low, Tulisa laughed and said, “I don’t think it would sound too good if Tulisa was off finding white sweets!” She then added, “I have a number for a very good friend of mine to call when you would like your white sweets. He will sort you out immediately.”

Here’s a photo of what it might look like if Tulisa Contostavlos set up a drug deal on her phone:

Tulisa Contostavlos arrested for allegedly brokering a drug deal via phone to an undercover reporter for The Sun

From The Sun:

“You just say, ‘Hi, it’s Tulisa’s friend and I’m calling about white sweets for me.’ That’s all you have to say.” She also texted us saying: “I have the number for u to call of my good friend that will sort u out.” She sent us the phone number for part-time rapper Mike GLC.

When our reporter rang GLC, he said: “She said you were looking for something ain’t ya? What was the amount you wanted exactly?”

He said he could sell half an ounce for £800 and insisted: “It’s top of the line.” Within hours he was at our suite at Mayfair’s Dorchester hotel, pulling out a large plastic bag from a sock and sliding it across the table. He demanded £820, including a delivery charge.

We sent the drugs to a lab, which found the bag weighed 13.95 grams and consisted of cocaine mixed with benzocaine and tetramisole.

The Sun had images (which look to have been screen shots from a video to back up their story), and it must have held some water with police because it wasn’t long before an investigation was launched and both Tulisa and Mike GLC were arrested on suspicion of supplying class-A drugs.

Tulisa, 24, and Mike GLC, 35, have since been released on bail and are scheduled to be back in court some time in July.

Mike GLC declared his and Tulisa’s innocence as he left the Belgravia police station in central London (seen above), saying “We are innocent. We haven’t been charged.” He added: “The truth will come out in the end. I don’t want to go into much more detail. I am going home to be with my family. This is ruining my life. I am not a drug dealer. I have never sold drugs in my life.”

Unless The Sun somehow conducted their investigation in a manner that would mean the evidence they gathered is inadmissible in court, it is looking pretty bad for Tulisa and Mike GLC!

The arrest comes just days after Tulisa confirmed that she would be leaving X Factor in a statement:

Just wanted to let you all know that I won’t be part of the X Factor panel this year. I’ve had a great time on the show, but this year it’s time to do something different. I’d like to thank everyone on The X Factor for two amazing years. Stay tuned as I have a very exciting announcement soon!

I’m hoping the “something different” wasn’t being a drug dealer and I assume her “very exciting announcement” wasn’t that she was caught trying to broker a cocaine deal!
