The Hills star admits she used to smoke meth “12 or 13 times a day”

In her new memoir, Made in Reality, former Hills star Stephanie Pratt revealed just how turbulent her teenage years were.

“I didn’t care about anything. I could live or die, I didn’t care,” Stephanie, now 29, said in an excerpt obtained by New Magazine. “I had nothing to get out of bed for, nothing was exciting.”

In an effort to feel “rebellious and grown-up,” Stephanie said she began using cocaine and crystal meth when she was fourteen or fifteen. She quickly became hooked on the latter drug.

“I was on the extreme level and addiction developed instantly,” she said, adding she regularly drove while intoxicated. “[I smoked] probably four times before school, then at snack…probably 12 or 13 times a day.”

After spiraling out of control for years–and with little help from her parents–Stephanie was arrested in Honolulu in 2006 for stealing $4,000 in merchandise while under the influence. “I woke up handcuffed to a hospital bed,” she said. “When I landed back in LA, Mom took me back home and I went upstairs to my old bedroom and I felt so much shame.” Stephanie Pratt Mugshot 2006

After that, Stephanie sought help at a Texas rehabilitation center, and then joined The Hills, with her brother, Spencer Pratt. Unfortunately, she said that that decision brought out other insecurities about her weight. She explained, “I lost about six pounds in two weeks but bulimia made my face very puffy so I freaked out and began going on crazy little diets, like I’d only eat Tic Tacs.”

Stephanie has been much healthier since leaving the MTV show. She now lives in London and stars in Made in Chelsea, on British channel E4.
