VIDEO – Tilda Swinton sleeping in a glass box for art
Tilda Swinton is currently sleeping in a glass box on random days for a performance art piece called “The Maybe” at MOMA in NYC.
True to the title, museum employees have no idea what days she’ll be coming in to snooze, but she’ll show up in the morning prepared to sleep for a full seven hours in a glass box placed in a different location in the museum each time. All that is in the box for her is a jug of water and a cushion.
A card explains “Living artist, glass, steel, mattress, pillow, linen, water, and spectacles.”
The 52-year-old Oscar winning actress has performed “The Maybe” twice before. In 1995 she did “the Maybe” in London at the Serpentine Gallery, and soon after at the Museo Barracco in Rome.
