This is a little backwards. Beth Chapman, wife of Duane Chapman and star of CMT’s Dog and Beth on the Hunt, is being sought by Colorado officials. Even more ridiculous: The story makes it sound like Beth was actually the victim!
Beth explained her tale of the supposedly criminal events to Radar Online. According to her, the family was vacationing in a Colorado park on July 10 when a teenager-driven car sped by.
“The passenger emerged from the vehicle — she was young and dressed inappropriately, drinking beer… and obviously out for a good time. I told her and the driver, ‘You need to slow down or I will call the cops,'” Beth said. “She began to laugh and smirk and then told me, ‘These cops won’t do anything!’ I told her if they didn’t slow down, I’d call anyway.”
Even after the spat, two of the girl’s companions came over to Beth and asked for her autograph.
“I wanted him to get away because as he was talking to me he had one hand on his firearm. I called Duane because the guy had a gun. Duane was down at the lake fishing. He came up and told them to get out of here. We then called the cops on the guy with the gun, gathered our stuff and split. We aren’t going to have our kids someplace where there are firearms.”
Apparently the teens were so upset by the slight that they talked the cops into charging the “verbally abusive” Beth with criminal harassment. By that point, Beth had left the area and has not picked up her summons from the local station. That forced officials to issue a warrant — even though one police officer admitted to Radar Online that the charge against Beth is basically equivalent to a traffic ticket.
“No one would be even remotely interested in this if it wasn’t a celebrity,” the official said.
Beth agrees the whole situation is pretty absurd.
“The only thing this girl got was a tongue lashing that her mother should have given her before she left the house that day in her Daisy Dukes with her butt cheeks hanging out. Embarrassed? Possibly. But harassed? NOT.”
Nonetheless, TMZ reports Beth has made arrangements to turn herself in.
